Secția de Științele Naturii de la Muzeul din Arad se transformă într-un Wunderkammer contemporan unde exponatele secției vor coabita cu lucrări digitale interactive, proiecții de film, instalații media, performance, concerte.
The 5th edition of Arad Media Art Festival “De Rerum Natura” will be held in the city of Arad, Romania between October 5 and November 3, 2018. The central exhibition proposes interjections and intersections with and within the galleries and displays of the city's Museum of Natural History. Working with "unconventional" spaces has become characteristic to our approach, although these gestures should not be seen in opposition with white cube aesthetics. Rather, they are reactive positions, gentle yet steady disruptions of current parameters, circumstances, and available spaces. Our interest in art and technology has once again summoned a heterogenous group of artists, working in multiple media. The public will experience this familiar space anew, their sense of nostalgia interrupted by subtle, and not-so-subtle art-tech devices and installations. The festival is dedicated primarily to emerging artists, and seeks to motivate local makers and cultural producers, as well as to enable the creation of wide-ranging international networks of exchange. A series of events has been planned on the side, including an evening of performance, sound / electronic music and multimedia during the opening weekend.
